Year of the Blood Donor DVD to be available in the Library

With 2009 being the Year of the Blood Donor and the 80th anniversary of blood collection services in Australia, the Australian Red Cross Blood Services have produced a DVD through federal funding.
The DVD, titled Australian Stories in the Year of the Blood Donor, is designed for people to watch and consider donating blood. If you already donate blood perhaps you may consider encouraging others to do so.
Mayor Cr Michael Johnsen is encouraging community members to get behind the Blood Service and donate. "If 100 people are inspired to donate blood they will potentially save 300 lives."
A copy of the DVD has been given to the Upper Hunter Regional Library Service for circulation through the Upper Hunter Shire.
"I strongly urge the community to borrow a copy of the DVD and find out the difference donating blood can make for someone." Cr Johnsen said, "I certainly encourage all our fit, healthy young residents to get behind the campaign and make an appointment to donate blood next time the Donormobile visits you community."
