The Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza is about providing children and teenagers from the Hunter Valley and beyond with experience and education in the Australian beef industry.
The main feature will be the School Steer Challenge where steers and feed are donated to schools to complete in the hoof and hook style competition. All steers compete against one another in a range of areas including weight gain challenge, live and dead judging while giving the students an opportunity for paraders and junior judging competitions. The Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza is NSW's second largest steer show and competition behind the Sydney Royal Show and this year the competition moves into a new phase by opening up the School Steer challenge to more schools than ever before.
