Upper Hunter Shire, located in the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW is world renowned for its breeding of thoroughbred horses, while also being the location for the Stock Horse Society of Australia. Upper Hunter Shire Council in conjunction with the Scone Chamber of Commerce have jointly developed the website www.horsecapital.com.au to further promote Scone's reputation as the "Horse Capital", and to provide an access point for all Tourism & Business information.

Merriwa Festival of the Fleeces - Published: 18 Nov 2009
Merriwa Festival of the Fleeces was inaugurated in 1990 and is a celebration of the region's historic association with the Australian Wool Industry. Each year, the Festival has become a notable event throughout the state where visitors have enjoyed observing the skills of shearers and the remarkable capabilities of trained working dogs and their handlers.  more ..
